Axians and Antumo Are Modernizing Ticket Sales at PKP Intercity Ticket Counters

200 state-of-the-art train ticket sales systems have been installed at PKP Intercity ticket counters throughout Poland. The systems are already in operation in Warsaw, Kraków, and Gdańsk, among other cities.

The new ticket-selling stations consist of a touchscreen POS terminal for ticket sales, an additional screen for customers, and necessary accessories such as a keyboard, stylus, and power supplies. The POS terminal allows PKP Intercity employees to quickly and efficiently enter data into the sales system regarding the route and travel date, the number of passengers, and applicable discounts. The additional screen displays a train car layout with available seats highlighted, from which passengers can make their selection. The transaction is finalized by choosing one of the available payment methods: cash, credit/debit card, or the BLIK system.

The vast majority of tickets for long-distance train travel are purchased online—through our website or mobile app. However, there are still many passengers who choose to buy their tickets at the ticket window at the train station. So we’re also modernizing this sales channel. The new ticket machines make the purchasing process faster and more convenient,” says Joanna Siecińska, PKP Intercity’s board member for finance and business development.

The vehicles are equipped with a state-of-the-art remote management and safety monitoring system, in accordance with PKP Intercity standards.

The project, carried out by Axians and Antumo (formerly M2T P.S.A.), is part of a broader strategy to modernize Poland’s digital passenger infrastructure. The ticket vending machines are designed and manufactured by Antumo, while Axians, as the prime contractor, is responsible for the delivery and installation of the equipment.
